Two Independent Minnesota Ortho Practices Come Together

Published on

In a move that will result in their becoming one of the largest independently owned groups in the United States, two Minnesota-area orthopedic practices—Twin Cities Orthopedics and St Croix Orthopaedics— have announced that they will be joining forces beginning this summer.

Twin Cities Orthopedics, the largest orthopedic group in Minnesota, employs 84 physicians and has 24 locations across the Twin Cities metro area. St Croix Orthopaedics has 11 locations throughout eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, and employs 25 physicians. Both practices have long served the area as the official sports medicine provider for several local universities, colleges, high schools, and professional sports teams.

The integration of both practices will result in a team of more than 100 orthopedic surgeons across 35 locations covering the Twin Cities metro area and western Wisconsin. In addition to the traditional diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions, it will also provide every facet of musculoskeletal care to individuals and athletes of all ages and abilities.

“TCO is excited for the two groups to join together, “ says Troy Simonson, CEO of Twin Cities Orthopedics. “We have very similar cultures and are focused on improving patient care and finding ways to be efficient in the current healthcare environment.”

“We have a real opportunity to build something truly unique in the Midwest, and we are excited about the possibilities this will provide,” says Melanie Sullivan, CEO of St Croix Orthopaedics.

Both stress that the move will not impact patients, and they do not anticipate staffing changes.
