The American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) annual “Hill Day” is slated for September 15 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Deadline to register is August 25, according to the AOTA website.

Potential attendees are invited to join occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and occupational therapy students from across the nation in Washington, DC, to advocate for the profession and communicate the value of occupational therapy.

The site notes in an effort to accommodate the expanding number of attendees, two training sessions (limit 425 per session) will be held at the Capitol Visitors Center. The first session is scheduled to be held from 8:30 to 9:30 am, and the second from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The site also states that while participants can select a time preference, specific time slots cannot be guaranteed, depending on the association’s ability to schedule Congressional appointments.

AOTA staff will make all participants’ Congressional appointments and the site reports that the AOTA plans to schedule these appointments between 11:30 am and 5:00 pm. Potential attendees will also be required to participate in an online preparatory session designed to help them know what to expect and provide information about how to conduct a meeting with their members of Congress. The on-site briefing will address legislative issues, talking points, current Congressional activity, and Q&A.
